The Turtle Bay Hotel is located in Kalamatiya which is a small village approximately 214km away from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake along the Southern coastal belt of Sri Lanka. A fishing locale, Kalamatiya is encompassed by a lagoon system of salt marsh, mangroves, scrublands and sand while the village is found midway between Tangalle and Hambantota. A fusion of different design elements is visible when considering the architectural structure of the property while the surroundings provide a peaceful ambience.


The guestrooms at the Turtle Bay Hotel cover an area of 40 sq meters while the interiors emanate a fusion of sophisticated luxuries and local materials. True to its name, Turtle Bay helps in the conservation of the sea turtle which has slowly become an endangered species. There are 7 marine turtle species while 5 of them are seen in the southern coastal belt. Due to the perfect location in the South, excursions can be made to the Kalamatiya Bird Sanctuary, the Yala National Park and the Uda Walawe National Park. Off the coast of Mirissa which is about 90 minutes away, is the perfect area to spot migrating blue whales and sperm whales. Spinner dolphins are also seen in between whale sightings. Boat rides can be arranged.

Meals are served and offered at your own pace at the Turtle Bay in Kalamatiya. The restaurant at the hotel has no fixed meal times while guests can enjoy meals anywhere in the hotel or alfresco dining on the beach. There is a resident chef that prepares a range of international dishes along with local favourites and fusion dishes. Fresh fish are available to choose from the daily catch while fruits and vegetables are available in the biodynamic farm which belongs to Turtle Bay.
